Lido Key Addition

Lido Key Addition

The Lido Key Residence showcases how Halflants + Pichette, award-winning Sarasota architects, transformed an existing home into a modern coastal residence that fully embraces its waterfront setting. The original structure divided the property into closed-off rooms that overlooked both the Florida landscape and its expansive views of Sarasota Bay. Through careful renovation and addition, the home was reimagined to bring light, openness, and flow to every space.

By reworking the rear of the structure, the design reestablishes a direct connection between the main living areas, pool terrace, and the bay beyond. Floor-to-ceiling openings introduce natural light and create layered views across the water. The result is a continuous living environment that feels integrated with its surroundings, encouraging movement between interior and exterior spaces while maintaining a calm, modern atmosphere.

MODERN COASTAL RENOVATION ON LIDO KEY

A thirty-foot roof overhang defines the home’s architectural identity, stretching across the pool terrace to form a unifying horizontal canopy. Supported by a single slender steel column, it extends outward to frame the waterfront while preserving openness and unobstructed views. This structural gesture ties the house to its site, creating visual balance and a strong connection between architecture and landscape.

Additional design elements, such as the dining wing and secondary roof planes, provide alternate perspectives toward Sarasota Bay and a nearby mangrove island. The project reflects Halflants + Pichette’s deep understanding of Lido Key’s coastal conditions and their ability to combine modern design with practical construction knowledge. The finished home demonstrates how thoughtful renovation can transform an existing structure into a cohesive, resilient, and contemporary expression of Sarasota waterfront living.
