Zahrada

Zahrada

Zahrada is a mixed-use development in downtown Sarasota that combines modern residential living with active street-level retail. Designed by Halflants + Pichette, the project demonstrates the firm’s expertise in multi-family residential architecture and urban design. The development features six luxury townhomes positioned above ground-floor retail spaces, helping to strengthen the pedestrian experience and energize the city’s downtown core.

Each residence includes four bedrooms, three and a half baths, a private courtyard and pool, a detached guesthouse, and a two-car garage. The design introduces a distinctive urban living model that blends privacy with connection. Courtyards are arranged on the second level between main living areas and elevated guesthouses, offering quiet outdoor retreats within the downtown setting. Inside, the split-level configuration adds variety and openness, with thirteen-foot ceilings in the main living area and a raised kitchen overlooking the space below.

URBAN LUXURY AND MULTI-FAMILY DESIGN

Zahrada illustrates how thoughtful design can balance private comfort with urban vitality. The elevated courtyards provide natural light and ventilation while creating a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. At street level, retail storefronts contribute to the city’s walkable fabric, concealing parking and adding visual rhythm to the block. This layering of public and private zones enhances both livability and the surrounding streetscape.

By combining residential architecture with mixed-use development, Halflants + Pichette have created a project that reflects Sarasota’s ongoing evolution as a modern urban environment. Zahrada embodies the firm’s precision in scale, proportion, and detail while reinforcing its reputation as a leader in contemporary Sarasota architecture. The result is a model for downtown living that integrates design quality, functionality, and a deep respect for the character of the city.
